The new design was adapted from the concepts used in the [[:Category:Pierce Quantum|Quantum]]. Although similar to the older [[:Category:Pierce Dash|Dash]] cabs, there are several changes. The motor compartment is smaller, providing more room inside. The "wing windows" are gone. The cab remains the same length, but the rear doors have shifted farther forward, now following the contour of the wheel-well and using the same doors as the [[:Category:Pierce Saber|Saber]]. The Dash 2000 was introduced on August 23, 1997.
The new design was adapted from the concepts used in the Quantum. Although similar to the older Dash cabs, there are several changes. The motor compartment is smaller, providing more room inside. The "wing windows" are gone. The cab remains the same length, but the rear doors have shifted farther forward, now following the contour of the wheel-well and using the same doors as the Saber. A non-raised roof is now optional. Due to the shifting of the doors, there is now about ten inches of cab after the doors. Jump seats now face forward.
