The Dash 2000 was introduced on August 23, 1997.

The new design was adapted from the concepts used in the Quantum. Although similar to the older Dash cabs, there are several changes. The motor compartment is smaller, providing more room inside. The "wing windows" are gone. The cab remains the same length, but the rear doors have shifted farther forward, now following the contour of the wheel-well and using the same doors as the Saber. A non-raised roof is now optional. Due to the shifting of the doors, there is now about ten inches of cab after the doors. Jump seats now face forward. There is a wide cutout about two inches high between the grill and bumper to allow clearance for the cab to tilt.

The Dash 2000 was discontinued in 2007, having been replaced with the Impel.
